Even the chill of winter can’t dampen Coney Island’s energetic atmosphere!

 

Every year, the Coney Island Polar Bear Club hosts its popular New Year’s Day Plunge — when daring souls don bathing suits and costumes to take a quick dip in the Atlantic Ocean for fun and charity.

This year (2024), Ruby's Bar & Grill pledged 10% of our profits to benefit the community fundraiser.

 

With unseasonably warm temperatures in the 40s and partly sunny skies, thousands participated in the 2024 plunge, which raised $124,828 (as of Jan. 6, 2024) for a number of local Coney Island organizations, including the New York Aquarium, the Coney Island History Project, the Coney Island YMCA, and Coney Island USA. 

 

Although Ruby’s is normally closed for the winter season, we DO open every New Year’s Day for the plunge. Whether you plan to participate in the Polar Bear Plunge or just miss the Coney Island Boardwalk, make sure to swing by Ruby's every Jan. 1. We’ll warm you up!
